1885 Campaign Shoes
Our 1885 Campaign Shoes are faithful copies of the originals. The heavy waxed flesh uppers have five eyelets and three lacing hooks on each side. The shoes are sewn with linen thread on an original 1883 patent sewing machine. These Campaign Shoes have hand lasted uppers, sewn soles and feature sole leather shanks. The top lifts on the heels are attached by iron cut nails that are spaced four to the inch as per the original specifications. These shoes were officially replaced in 1893 with a lined calfskin shoe but existing stocks continued to be issued until they were depleted.
